Privacy policy
TIMEperative keeps your data on your device. This page explains what the app and this website do with personal data, what leaves your device and when, and what you control.
Last updated on 19 October 2026.
Who is responsible
Acunomic GmbH, Leutschenbachstrasse 95, 8050 Zürich, Switzerland, publishes TIMEperative and this website. Write to support@timeperative.com with any question about your data.
In short
- TIMEperative has no account, and we run no server for the app. We receive none of your entries, nothing that tracking records, and no usage statistics, crash reports or analytics.
- Your data stays in a database on your computer or phone. Apart from the update check, it leaves your device only when you connect a service or send entries, and then it goes to that service, not to us.
- This website sets no cookies and uses no analytics. If you join the waitlist for macOS or iOS, we keep your email address until we can tell you that version is out.
The TIMEperative app
Where your data is stored
Everything you record lives in one database on your device: on Windows in the app's folder in your user's local application data (%LOCALAPPDATA%), which does not roam with your profile; on Android in the app's private storage. TIMEperative does not encrypt this database itself, so protect your device with its own encryption, such as BitLocker on Windows.
Passwords, keys and sign-in tokens are kept in the system's secure store: the Windows Credential Manager, or on Android under a key in the Android Keystore. Two kinds of settings are kept in the database instead: the client ID and secret of your own Google registration, and calendar links you paste in.
Before an update changes the database, the app keeps a copy of it on your device; it keeps the last five. On Android, the app is excluded from cloud backups, so its data is not copied to your Google account. If you delete the app's data, nobody can restore it, not even we.
What the app records
The app stores what you enter: your time entries, projects, plans, trips, budgets and settings. Tracking is off until you switch it on. When it is on, it records on your device only:
- on Windows, which app and window title was in front, every three seconds, with a pause after four minutes without input; your browser history, read from the browser's own file; recently used documents; and when the PC was in use, from the Windows system log;
- on Windows, when Microsoft Teams or Zoom last used the microphone, read from Windows' own privacy settings: the app, the start and the end, nothing of the call itself;
- on Android, how long you used which apps, with Android's usage access, which you grant yourself, and pages you share to TIMEperative from your browser.
The app never reads the conversations of AI assistants, and it uses no location services: it asks for no location permission and reads no GPS.
Connections the app makes
The app connects to the internet only for the purposes below. Each service receives what is listed and processes it under its own privacy policy; we receive nothing.
| Connection | What is sent | When |
|---|---|---|
| Update check, at GitHub (GitHub, Inc., United States) | A request for the small file that names the latest version. GitHub sees your IP address, as with any download. Nothing about you or your data is sent. | When the app starts and once a day |
| Outlook calendar and Teams chats, at Microsoft | Your sign-in happens at Microsoft. The app then reads your calendar, and for Teams how many messages you wrote in which chat and when; it keeps no message text. Access is read only. | Only after you connect them |
| Google Calendar, at Google | Your sign-in happens at Google, with your own Google registration. The app reads your calendar, read only. | Only after you connect it |
| A calendar link, such as Proton | A request for the link you pasted. | Only after you add it |
| DeepL | The text you translate, with your own DeepL key. | Only when you translate |
| TIMEperative Cloud Hub, your organisation's | The entries you send: employee, project, description, start, duration, time zone and a reference. With your own login the app also reads projects, tasks and your organisation's settings. | When you send entries or import projects, and settings when the connection is set up |
What you control
- Switch tracking on or off at any time, hide window titles, and exclude websites.
- Dismiss or delete what tracking found. Deleting keeps only a short fingerprint and the time span, so the same item is not suggested again.
- Clear tracking per period, delete and restore entries, and purge them for good.
- Export your entries as CSV, and the configuration as a file without entries and without secrets.
This website
Cloudflare, Inc. (United States) hosts www.timeperative.com. To deliver the pages and protect them against attacks, Cloudflare processes your IP address, the address you request and what your browser sends with it, possibly outside Switzerland, including in the United States. This website sets no cookies, uses no analytics and loads no fonts or scripts from other sites. Your choice of colour scheme is stored in your browser only.
The download buttons send you to GitHub, which delivers the file and sees your IP address.
The waitlist for macOS and iOS
TIMEperative for macOS and iOS does not exist yet. If you join its waitlist, we keep your email address, the platform you chose, the language of the page and the time you signed up in our customer relationship system, on a server we rent from Contabo GmbH, Germany. The form travels through Cloudflare like every page of this website.
We use your address only to tell you when that version is out, and we delete it once we have told you. You can take your address off the list at any time: write to support@timeperative.com.
When you write to us
If you write to support@timeperative.com, we use your email address, your message and what you attach to answer you. Our email runs on Microsoft 365, and our support tickets are kept in our support system on a server we rent from Contabo GmbH, Germany. We keep a conversation as long as we need it to help you and as long as the law requires us to keep business correspondence.
Your rights
Under the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection and, where it applies, the EU General Data Protection Regulation, you may ask what data we hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, and object to its use. Write to support@timeperative.com. You may also complain to the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner or to the authority where you live.
Changes
We update this policy when the app or the website changes what it does with data. The date at the top shows the last change.
